For the past few years I have enjoyed my own flock of ladies and run courses to share my experiences with others interested in keeping hens of their own.
You could say my hen keeping is an addiction, and these little creatures bring so much pleasure and fun to our family and are quite the little characters, as well as delicious fresh eggs every morning. All our chickens are pets and part of our family. I keep a mixture of large fowl, pure breeds, hybrids and bantams. I also hatch chicks both with my broody hens and with an incubator, also from time to time I have birds for sale. My current flock include Sussex, Marans, Orpingtons, legbars and mixed hybrids. |
Hen Party for beginners This course gives an introduction to keeping chickens and is suitable for beginners . It covers all you need to know to get started with your own chickens and an insight to the delights of these gorgeous creatures and the fun they bring to your family . My nine-year-old son and I had a lovely time with Marie, she was kind and welcoming to us both. We learned an enormous amount about keeping chickens and were allowed a lot of practical, handling chickens experience. I would highly recommend attending a hen party before taking the plunge!

I have wanted chickens for a while now but wanted to be absolutely sure that I knew what I was taking on. Marie was fantastic, really friendly and welcoming. Her enthusiasm for her chickens is evident and she has helped me to finally make a decision. My eglu coop will be arriving a couple of days from now! Her hospitality was wonderful and her cakes were delicious.

Awesome course, we went Easter Saturday with our 3 & 5 year old girls, who are at best high energy. Marie is incredibly welcoming and ran a great session which balanced short attention spans with imparting knowledge. The highlight was the newly hatched chicks. What a delightful time we had with Marie and her chickens. She sure knows her stuff. I attended an Easter course with my 2 children. How patient Marie was with them both and provided some toys and treats to take home. We were made to feel so welcome with her perfect hospitality, not to mention her homemade cakes which were yummy. Her passion for chickens is evident in the care and time she takes to conduct her course and answer endless questions. She sure did adapt the course to be super child friendly and I'm glad to have booked the private course because it gave us such a memorable experience. I feel we covered all there is to know about chickens and Marie has given me the confidence to start up.We even got to hold some day old chicks and also collect eggs to take home, I would have no hesitation in recommending Marie she is truly an expert and amazing lady!

As a total novice to the world of chicken keeping I can only say that this course is BRILLIANT ! I enjoyed every minute and it's only on reflection later,that I'm realising how much information I picked up today. The setting is excellent and Marie is a totally devoted mad chicken lady in the best possible way. The course covers everything the novice chicken keeper needs to know and Marie is full of advice and tips based on years of experience. I enjoyed the practical element of being in the chicken run and any small doubts about keeping chickens I may have had, were gently eased by Marie and totally blown away by Rihanna

Marie provides a family friendly tailor-made experience perfectly pitched to your group. As she is happy to adjust her sessions for the audience I feel she would be able to pitch a perfect chicken encounter for any group type. She accommodated our 2 year old son making it a special family session for us. My son was thrilled to get up close to a young chicken, we were given lots of advice and guidance and great handling experience. I mustn't forget the offer of aftercare help and yummy cake. I would thoroughly recommend her course to anyone.
